setting the timing
Ok, a while back someone told me to remove the plug that goes into the dist. when setting the timing on my '88. I went to adjust my timing yesterday and the the only plug to the dist. shut the car down when you disconnect it. What other plug is it?
I was told to remove it so it doesn't confuse the computer. I can't adjust it if the car isn't running! Does someone want to tell me what I am REALLY supposed to do please? ------------------ '82 GT 351W C-4,BBK headers,Carter 625 carb,Comp.Cam,Flowmaster exhaust. 1988 GT...T-5,bone stock |
Yeah, what your supposed to pull out will be the spout connector. It will be a gray piece located next to the distributor, don't unplug any wires.

If your car is carb'ed which an '82 is....
You don't have a SPOUT connector. ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.stangnet.com 11's coming soon!!!! Heads,intake and cam are all here |
NOS_Notch, I was referring to my '88GT
I know '82 mustangs don't have spout connectors. 86stangGT, If that spout connector is that piece with wires attached to it, then that is what I pulled and the car shuts down. I don't see anything else connected to the dist. to pull off. ------------------ '82 GT 351W C-4,BBK headers,Carter 625 carb,Comp.Cam,Flowmaster exhaust. 1988 GT...T-5,bone stock |
It's not connected TO the dist. It is a little half inch square grey plug in the wiring harness close to the dist. I think you unplugged your ignition module. Did the plug have a lot of wires coming out of it?

Yeah it did, Whatever it was it shut the car right off when I pulled it. I will look for the other plug you mentioned tomorrow.
