check your tailpipe(s) for oil. That means you have blowby and possibly bad cylinder(s)

dont quote me on this delrrex, but your year i think has moly rings. they do have a little more blow-by with these rings, but im not sure your motor has these rings in it or not. i did a 350 mile trip and i used 1 qt. also. my car has NO LEAKS! so it could be normal. the guy you want to ask is PRKWUD, he is usually floatin around the blue oval lounge. he know alot about the ford blocks.

delrrex. i dont know why i didnt think of this before. in the back of the intake where the PCV vavle goes into, underneath that is the rubber grommet, underneath the grommet is a PCV screen! most people dont know about it, but it causes blow-by and oil leaks. these screens only can be purchased at a Ford dealer. they under $10. what happens is that the crankcase ventilation cant relieve itself cause this screen is plugged, so all that crankcase vapors build up pressure. the pressure finds the weakest parts to relieve, example, valve cover gasktes, cranks seals, the pressure also puts strain on the valve seals and pressure is exerted the opposite way going up past the rings into the cylinder, causing a "blow-by" condition. 10-1 odds that PCV screen is plugged and most likely the original one from the factory! if you cant figure out how to get it out let me know. hope i helped. oh if that still doesnt take care of the oil burning, you still need to change that frequently, so it really isnt a waste of time or mone\y if it has never been done.

do you think that could be the problem on my car causing blowby?
when i drive about 700 miles or so (mostly highway) it'll burn about a quart
i figured it was my rings worn after i stupidly ran it for a few minutes with the oil pump shaft broken so i had no pressure

i thought this because i started using quite a bit more oil after i pulled the motor to replace the pump and bearings, but a few weeks before i did that, i put my intake on and didnt put the screen back in the intake

could this be part of my oil comsumption? i also leak no oil at all

delrrex, you can try to clean thee screen, but most of the time it is so clogged up you cant. like i said, its a cheap part, so go and get it from the dealer if you can.
fiveoh, the reason that screen is there, so you dont suck up oil. yes i could, but remember, i think we have moly rings in our engines. they are normal for using a little oil. do you by any chance look down the throttle body and see any oil? or the vacuum line that goes from the pcv valve to the intake. if you take that off, does oil come out? check that and let me know.
