Shift problems
 

I have an 86 gt and when i shift from first to second it grinds but it dont do it in any other gear. do you think it the tranny or the clutch. thanks alot

When was the last time you changed your tranny fluid?
I had a problem getting my shifter into 1st, then after I changed my fluid it was smooth as silk. You can use any kind of ATF. I like to use the synthetics :)

Sounds like your 2nd gear synchros are going out. Although changing your fluid first would be a good idea...to see if it helps lessen the grinding some.

Hey there someone else told me it could be that. How do i change that if it is that. and if it was the clutch would it grind. i changed the fluid and it still does it. thanks for all your help.

Sounds like your synchro. I have never taken a t5 apart, but I'v taken others apart and it is not fun. Maybe to the more experienced mechanic it is a breeze, but for me, it sucked.
