Shorty unequal vs Shorty Equal
I am pretty sure this question has been asked one before but i dunno so i am going to ask it again.
Which is better (and why) equal length or unequal length headers? Also which is esier to install? becuase if i get either one of them it can't be more than a one day job. so which is easier to install and what would i have to go thru? |

Equal length shorties move more air than unequal length shorties.
Unequal shorties would be much better for a stock engine cause equal lengths take away all of your back pressure and you sacrifice torque. equal length shorties are harder to install. I love my BBK eqaul length shorties they look great and made my car have a nice deep rumble.. I agree.....the equal length shorties are the better of the two! (but a litte harder on the install)

Equal length shorties aren't worth the additional hassle/time/money over unequal shorties.
On a stock engine, unequals will outperform equals due to better low end. On a highly modded engine, I'd ditch the shorties all together in favor of some long tubes for sure. Better hp and torque. The difficulty in installation is worth it once you get to that stage IMHO. |

I read some where that you only gain about 2 hp with the equal length over the unequal and the article said it was not worth the extra money and hassle.

On my book of dyno runs, it shows the the equal length making more mid range and most top end but the unequal length making more down low and just a hair more at a really higher rpm (5000+) on a stock motor.

LOL, yeah, except for the $40-$50 difference in price. That's only about 30%. |
