Default Should 118mph make an 11 sec pass

Well we took one of our streetrods to Bristol Fun Ford and my dad raced it in the Street Ford class. It weighs about 2350 and is pro-streeted. With street tires he ran 13.3 @101 but he was spinning bad. With a 150 shot he ran 12.1 @ 118 but it was melting the tires off. My friend watching in the stands said that he had to hit 2nd gear before he got passed the tree. With slicks I am sure it will hit low 11s. Oh yeah, if you punch it hard on the street tires, some times it will pull the wheels when it hooks.

A 150 shot on mine netted me a 11.77 at 110, I was shutting the gas off and slowing down before the traps. I have a c-4 w/373's and was relying on the stock tach. I put an after tach in w/light so this sunday should be a little more fun. I also bumped her to a 175 shot, looking for 11.2's at 118-120. John

That mph is good for low 11's on a good tire.

Default Get some shoes!

If you want to go fast get some shoes on that thing. If its Pro-Streeted then why don't you already have slicks or drag radials at least?

The problem with street tires is they are made to last more than a few thousand miles and they hafta be able to handle wet roads. A drag radial is a compromise between the slick and the radial "street tire." They have a semi soft compound like a slick but they have some shallow water grooves like a radial. They won't hook like a slike but they should be better than a street radial.
