Its a hard sound to explain. It changes. Sometimes its a growling, somtimes it sounds like two metals rubbing, and other times its a high pitched squeel. Today was the first time I was able to get someone else to drive the car so I could listen to it outside. When your inside the car it sounds like it's isolated to the right side of the car. Now that I have listened to it on both sides of the car, It sounds more centered on the back of the car. I'm gonna take a look at the u joints, followed by the pinion bearing. If there's no luck there, I may have to look into the thunderbird rear.

If you think the sound is traveling, where from? A noise coming from the front of the car couldn't travel through the tranny could it? That's why I'm limiting the trouble shooting to the rear of the car. Thanx for the help.
