ok ive been scoping things out and here is what im looking at, but im looking to shave it sown a bit if possible; thats where i need help! 
306 balanced blue printed short block $1495 (w/o cam and chain)
 
gt 40 x head assemblies (whatever this is) $1150
 
do i need a new intake? upper and lower? 
if so, vortech sells a upper and lower intake for 699
 
so this is about 3200 without the cam and chain if needed- any ideas for getting the price down with the same power.
 
or is this combo crappy?  help me out, i mknow nothing about this stuff-  my goal again is to run low - mid 12's and keep it a daily driver in the summers.
