What are your ET's at 1/8 and 1/4?
What is your mph at 1/4?
What gears in the rear?
What torque?
If you are bracket racing, I would go LenTech AOD with 3k to 4k stall, NO LOCKUP, TRANSBRAKE is mandatory. Use narrow ratio gear set with 4.30 rear end gears for 6,500 rpm at the traps or 4.57 gears puts you at 7,200 rpm at the traps. Go with a spool if it is a track only car, or with a locker or tsd rear end if a street car. Lockers break, and tsd's eventually wear out. Spools are the way to get repeatable et's in bracket racing.
Run the tallest slick you can fit under your chassis, (for good mph) and the steepest gear to put you at your highest terminal rpm at the trap (for lowest et's.)
I like 4.40 circle track gears with 34 inch slicks. But if you have more than 600 ft lbs of torque, you might consider going with a true richmond drag gear which features softer gear faces / hardening only at the surface.
Hope this helps.....
The AOD from LenTech should be good for over 1,000 hp with no lockup and transbrake.
It is a great transmission when properly prepared, and you can drive it home at reasonable rpms.
You can also consider a Liberty 5 speed if you are drag racing only, or a Jerrico transmission would work good too. These can be set up with torque converters if you want to eliminate the shift time loss when you engage a clutch.
