Post ranger shortbed on a longbed frame?

here's the dilemma, i have a 92 ranger longbed with a bed that i have come to call custom flareside (incident with pole on one side and a car on the other ) and a friend of mine has a 90 shortbed that was recently totaled on the frontend and its bed is in good shape, i'd guess it wouldnt be easy to put his shortbed on my truck but im posting this to see if anyone knows really how hard it would be, i think the gas nozzle is in the same place, maybe the only thing is the longer length of the rear part of the frame which wouldnt be impossible to shorten , and i could remove the spare tire holder underneath if that becomes a problem, is the axle location the same in these two trucks? i would think it would be cheaper for Ford that way so they dont have to produce different brake line lengths and driveshafts, sorry this is so long, i just got really excited when i found out he wrecked his truck thats pretty mean when i think about it
