You have come to the right place. Me and my brother did this in 2002. We went carbed as well. And let me tell you, that weenie ass 7.5 deserves more credit. Now it ain't no stout bull, but it can take some abuse. All you have to do for the swap is change out your fuel sump in the tank. The rest is all bolt in stuff. It is a lot easier going carbed. You need a fuel pump of some sort mechanical or electric. The gas lines start on the pass. side and cross over to the drivers side. You need a double hump crossmember for the tranny. Get standard v8 mounts (I like the convertible mounts myself). If you don't already have this, you need the plate that bolts to the block to bolt to the mounts too. The v8 is a direct bolt in swap. No fabricating of any sort. You can use the stock 4cyl drive shaft. Are you using a t-5 or auto? This really is an easy swap. Like Dark 5.0 said, it can be done in 14 hours. We did it in about the same amount of time. It sure is fun removing that whole wiring harness from the 4cyl.

Scrapla, the only thing that you have to change in the cluster is the tach cause it won't be right for a v8. If you do a fuel injected swap, you don't have to touch the fuel tank sump. But you do have to either run new lines or swap in some from a donor car. The best way to do the swap is buy a donor car for parts. Then you know you have everything you need. Yeah, the whole 4cyl engine harness (including the computer) has to come out. You need a v8 computer and engine harness along with alot of sensors that are not on the 4cyl car. One good thing is if you go 5 speed, the 4cyls have a cable cutch as well. All you do is change the cable. Of course, you will need the corresponding computer for the tranny too. And most of the parts you need you can get from either summit or the local parts stores.
