okay, before I start the above, I have a funny 'gut' feeling that it might be the coil...

Is there anyway to verify this, test the coil, before I go buy a new one?
(I just did the Ford Motorsports tune-up kit 6 months ago, with new wires / plugs / cap / rotor) so I would like to replace them only if necessary after I've tested the coil...
Do coils get "weak" ??
