Post Pics of 1 3/4 Hooker Long Tubes #6227

Here are some pics of my new 1 3/4 Hooker long tubes.

The first is the complete assembly. Note, I have cut off one flange so far as I plan to install Hooker turndowns as shown in pic 4.

Second is the assembly with individual cylinders out to show how they are assembled.

And third is the grinding of the head ports to remove some weld build up and gasket match. These are matched to my heads.

I would rather give a review of the assembly prodecure after I have these babies on but several have asked for pics so I'll tell you what I know now.

The speedometer cable has to be rerouted, one brake line rerouted, most of the flanges have to be ground to clear my head stud nuts, the steering arm has to be removed and the engine has to be raised slightly. None of this a a very big deal but somewhat time consuming. Hooker has done a good job of putting a lot in a small area. I have only placed the headers in place to check for clearance so far and with these items corrected I believe they will go. I have not started on the passenger side installation.

Note also, none of the tube have been dimpled so far for clearance. I have heard that some headers have to be dimpled for clearance but not the Hooker...so far.

These headers are very light. The side I am working on is barely one pound heavier than my shorties thanks to the thin wall that Hooker uses. With a good jet hot or ceramic coating they would last forever. Some headers are very heavy wall not only making the flow less but heavier.

Of course the big news will be on the dyno and track. I'll report more as I get results.
