Damper question...

i have the option of getting a damper for pretty cheap and was wondering what the best weight to go with? my 90 GT is still pretty much stock. i dont really need one but like i said i have the opertunity to get one for cheap.

do they have anything to do with performance?

Your harmonic balancer MUST weigh 9.2 pounds, and have a 34 ounce imbalance to it. Your engine has as an internal imbalance that is corrected by adding a 50 ounce weight to the flywheel and a 34 ounce weight to the balancer. If you don't get the proper weight, you will need new main bearings in less than 100 miles.
