![]() skyler,
if you blew a head gasket, then your probably detonating. Take a look at the plugs just to see what they are looking like. My best guess is that your either running too much timing w/ the nitrous or not enough fuel, or both. If your going for a good nitrous cam, why give ed curtis a call to see what he can do for you. http://www.flowtechinduction.com/ I believe he will custom grind a cam to your needs. If your willing to spend $350 you could get the heads a little ported and possibly get the lower intake match ported at a local machine shop. In my opinion there is nothing wrong w/ having a machine shop do some mild porting on heads and matching everything up. Now when you get the heads race ported, or fully ported you really need a good flow bench to make sure the #'s are where they need to be.. just my opinon good luck Dan 95 rio red cobra #2021 |

![]() Do you already have 1.7 roller rockers? If not, it will make the E303 have approx .536" lift instead of only .498" It will also quiet down the valvetrain noise. A whole lot easier than taking off the front cover. Good luck!

![]() My friend is in the same boat, he lost a gasket at the track, we were just getting ready to try the spray, his timing was at 10 on the the n/a runs, didnt get a chance to get the nos out, but i think he might be running lean, what is a lean plug look like? luckily his car is carbed so it was easy to pull his TF's off, he is also going to ARP studs, instead of cheaps he had.
Sky what kind of studs you have? are they arp?

![]() Before you start any additional part buying you should take a good look at the rockers, and the rest of the valvetrain. I know you want to ditch the E cam because of all the idle problems, but a cam is going to eat quite a bit of that money up, and the stock head bolts are going bye bye.
Good luck man. |

![]() Actually, with 1.7 rockers on the E303 cam, that will give you a .529 lift. Heres how you figure it out. .498 ( stock E cam lift ) x 1.7 ( ratio you'll be using for the cam )/ 1.6( the ratio your supossed to use )= .529
Now if you were to use the 1.72 rockers, that would give you the .535 lift. If thats the case, you should check p/v clearance just to be safe. I think the E303 cam is a good n/a cam. What kind of idle problems are you having with it? I know my E cam liked to have an idle right around 900rpms. good luck Dan |

![]() Well first thing is first..get the water out of all the parts in the motor, I suggest flushing it with some cheap oil 5w30 and use a oil pump priming tool to flush the new oil through everything so that their is no water stuck anywhere which could do further damage. You need to get the water out of the lifters or you'll be spending $160 on those. To bleed them down you can put them in a vise, put a rag on both sides so that you do not damage them, find a nut that is just large enough to fit between the retaining spring on the top of the lifter, then slowly crank the vise tight you will need to do this is small increments but you will see the milky oil come out, then soak the lifter in a coffee cam until you need to re-install them.
Then, as UNIT suggested make sure all you current parts are up to snuff before you buy anything. I would look at one of Comps N2O cams if you plan to continue with the spray, they have some nice grinds and are odd the shelf, a custom cam would be great but you'll be waiting 2-3 weeks. The 1.7's aren't the best way to add lift, they also add unneeded stress to the valve train as they change the geometry, they should not be any quiter or louder then a 1.6 either ![]() Good Luck

![]() What I meant by the 1.7 rockers being quieter, is I was assuming he still had the factory rocker arms without the roller fulcrum. Mine were so noisy. When I switched to the Crane's it almost completely eliminated the noise. I'm sure the 1.6's would be the same.

![]() No I wasnt running 87
![]() Ive had lots of idle problems w/ the E-303 so I think I'll change it. I was thinking about the TFS cams. I'll see what I can do w/ the water. We will check out the valve train. What are we looking for there? I think were gonna give it a half assed vavle job too. And I will be adding ARP head studs, I have stock head bolts now. ] Skyler

![]() Sky, with the horsepower you are producing N/A I'm suprised you aren't running 30lb injectors. And adding 80rwhp on top of that, making over 410rwhp on 24lb injectors? I'm suprised you didn't loose a rod or something. Upgrade your fuel system dummy!

![]() Sky, I have a strong recommendation for head gaskets...Mr. Gasket Solicor. I just removed my heads this week, and I had detonated the s**t out of those gaskets and they survived with no issues. The area around the fire ring was still nice and shiny with zero traces of combustion leaks. They were a lot stronger than the Felpro 1011-1 gaskets I used in the past, which always seemed to blow out prematurely.
If interested, you could get them at Hawaii Racing, where I believe you got your Twisted Wedgies. Good Luck!

![]() Scott - The injectors are fine, cuz its a wet nitrous kit that I have. The fuel pump is probably cutting short, but I don't think theres anyway I have 332rwhp. 107.4mph traps on a light car like mine isn't 332rwhp. So the fuel pump wasn't probably causing the car to lean out.
Russ- I will definatly use those then. Thanks! Skyler

![]() Sky, I do not know what shot U are running. But I will definately run a 255 pump and maybe a AFM cam (shorter waiting time). If not get the Ed Curtis type cam and rip some rubber.
