uhh, yah you need to change it ASAP

3000 miles is about 4800km, so change your oil and filter about every 4800km

I use synthetic, so I change mine every 5000. Teardown after 125,000 miles showed no ridge in the cylinder walls, nor any excessive bearing wear. This was with an enthusiastic driver (me) and most of the miles being blown.

I change my oil once a year with filter change every six months. I do this with all my cars. I do use a synthetic oil with their oil filter. Regular oil filters such as fram are only good for 3K. Change your oil as soon as possible. An oil change cost so little compared to the price of a car. So take care of your ride. Every 3K or once a year with Amsoil.

, holy crap dude. Your oil must look REALLY, REALLY bad when it comes out. I don't see how any oil could last a year, with dailey driving.

He's an Amsoil dealer, and Amsoil claims to be so superior that it's properties don't break down, allowing for longer intervals between oil changes. The only problem with that is the contamination that exisists thanks to burning gasoline (as well as the gas that doesn't burn and gets by the rings) stays with the oil. No oil should be used for more than 5k miles. I personally change mine every 3k miles.

Take care,
-Chris

It's a good idea to check your muffler bearing tolerences while you're down there, too.

PKRWUD, that's what I'm saying. Oil doesn't wear out, it get contaminated.

I change mine about 4 times a year:

--Change before putting away for the winter
--Change before bringing out in the spring
--Change every 4K miles during use in the summer

On my wifes Honda, I have changed that every 4K miles since we bought it new. 120K miles later (synthetic since 70K) it still purrs.

Thumbs down Contaminates

Contaminates will KILL ,anyway i have run Castrol Syntec
since i bought my notch in sep of 91,and even though i don't put a lot of miles on it a year (1800 to 2100mi.) castrol told me to change it every 6 months ,because of the short jaunts that i drive it on (nice weather ,weekends) the reason is condinsation in the block.
and then when i do change it ,it may only have 600 mi on that oil
(hard 600) so it may sound expensive to some but thats on me.
anyway change your oil , no more than 5000mi. on a daily driver

i change mine every 1500 miles or three months usually the three months comes first but i figure whats a couple bucks to know you always have fresh clean oil and a good filter on there heck i dont think it would be bad to change it as often as you could i dont use synthetics i hear they can find ways past seals that regular oils dont so an oil change for me is not as expensive
hardcore racers have new oil in every race weekend cheap ins
definatly wouldnt go past 5000 miles
i change the oil in my bike every 1000 miles
call me crazy but i like to pamper my toys
