Post side exhaust on notchback? opinions?

i need a new catback, my flowmasters welded to the stock tailpipes just arent doing the trick.... heres the problem i have a MM panhard bar and dont want interferrance problems. has anyone ever seen the bassani dual tip side exhaust on a fox body??? and how does it look? i think it would look and sound badass.... but i have yet to see one on a fox body.... also do you think ill lose horsepower by doing side exhaust due to the extreme bends in the pipe?

Well, to each his own, but I don't think I'd ever put side exhaust on a fox body. I'm not too keen on side exhausts on any car.

The only type of side exhaust that I do like is the side pipes on an AC Cobra or the like.

This is just my personal opinion. Having said that, it definitely would be unique.

I'm not sure how much HP, if any, you'd lose. The exhaust does usually have to do a 180 with side exhaust mufflers (ie in & out at the front of the muffler). I'd think that that would hamper flow somewhat.

EW.

What do you mean just not doing it? Its certainly better than losing 5-8 hp to fugly side exhaust...that's one minor bolt on power lost. I say either go dumps or leave the pipes...notches look prettier with pipes anyways

OMG no please don't do that!!!!!!!!!!!!

those are TERRIBLE mufflers! I know that's just my opinion, but I think overrated good ol blowmasters would be better than that. How about MAC or Borla? Those are nice, deep sounding, and not so glasspack like.

Good luck with whatever makes you the happiest!

This guy at my school has pipes coming out from the stock H-pipe location and they look kinda like the late 60's Dodge Challanger type. It looked pretty subtle and very cool. It's not the typical side exhaust, it doesn't have any extreme bends and he has glasspacks (yuck) but it's a pretty good flowing system without being tacky and it's not noticable if you're not looking for it because the pipes aren't chrome or anything. I'd say go for it and have a custom setup rather than the later style 'stang bolt on type with the ground effects. although to do this idea, you'd have to get rid either the cats and run round mufflers or use just cats and run pipes off of them it looked pretty cool on this guy's car and he had NO interferance problems whatsoever. good luck.

well if i could afford it borla or bassani are definatly another option... but i heard the super turbos are best for turbo cars (due to the straight thru design) and i plan on doing the incon upgrade after this summer. i guess the dynomax free up the most horsepower also.

I will be putting side exhaust on my GT this year. I am using DynoMax mufflers 17676 get that model because they are made for side exhaust. They have the in and out on the same side. Therefore you loose no HP, only gain power and sound!

The only problem is I cannot find a good exhaust tip, bassani makes one but they are big $$$.
