If you've used Nitto 555 DR's....

Hey, I was wondering what kind of mileage you guys have seen with Nitto 555 drag radials on the street and highway. I've GOT to buy some new tires for my Mustang, and as it's now only driven about every other week...maybe more in the summer, I was considering some drag radials. I do a lot of highway miles along with the *cough, cough* occasional hard street launch and a couple of track visits per year.

You might get more miles with nittos, but i recomend m/t sportsman pros, they is plenty of soft tread, and still a 2 ply wrinkle wall, lol, i sound like a salesman, But i really like the quality from m/t's.....good luck

ps, I havent been to the track with mine yet, but i feel i can run about as fast as i did with e.t. streets, i did a burnout in front of my house though lol.

I'm guessing that there are about 10,000 miles on my Nittos. They really didnt start to give way until I switched to the TKO. I made several 4 hour trips to St. Louis with them, and 2 eight hour trips to my parents house. They hold up real good! All of this and they still have life left on them!

If you smoke your tires at every stoplight they probably wont last 6 months. But if you drive conservative like I do, you should have the same results as I did.

I have about 8,000 mile and about 35-40 passes at te strip with hige burnouts and they are down to the wear bars in the center of the tires. They hook really well when you heat them up alot, but if you are out on a cold day and you get into a street race, they wont hook up at all.

I havent decided if I will buy another set of them when these are totally gone or not, so I guess I'm really not helping with your question too much

I had a set on my 95 (275/40/17) I ran them for about a year probally 7-8 thousand miles .They are a great tire but be careful on cold pavement it gets a lil tricky.They were fine in the rain however!

I agree with all the above statements. If you are looking for a drag radial that will last and has good drivability I think the Nittos are the best choice. I've never had a problem with mine, except for lack of traction in cold weather. I've got about 4000 miles and 3-4 trips to the track on them, and still a pretty good amount of tread on them. The BFG's are supposed to hook much better but don't drive nearly as well or last nearly as long from what I've heard. The MT's are basically a slick with some wavy lines in them, would not want to get caught in a light rain shower or drive over wet pavement on them, thats for sure.

Im not talking about the e.t. streets, im talking about sportsman pros, e.t.streets have little water lines, sport pros actually have tread, and in rain i could get on the gas pretty good, and still maintain traction, way better than e.t. streets, nittos look awesome though, i've heard good things about them.

if you want an alterantive to them then i HIGHLY suggest the dunlop sp 8000...they are a regalar radial that hoooks like a mofo in 25 deg up weather..never not have these things hook when i am street racing...you give them a nice 3-4 sec ond burnout and boom your out..we have run 1.7 60 ft with these at the track on a car with NO suspension mods minus removal of front sway bar..wear is great on them also and they handle well
