Default Heating UP

For the past 2 years I have had a problem of thermostats sticking closed causing my car to over heat. I would replace one every 6 months and the problem would go away for 4 months or so then must replace again. Well yesterday I just said forget it and took the thermostat out and not use one. Well guess what it still will overheat and boil water out the over fill tank. So I opened the cap and watched the water cycle in the radiator so is the water pump bad it only has 127k miles. LOL Any suggestions would be great but I will replace the pump but everything seems to be cycling ok.

Have you run a pressure check on your system? You might want to replace your radiator cap for starters, the springs go weak over time and don't seal the radiator - causing lose of pressure. No pressure = boil over.

Something new happen when driving to work tonight. I work 3rd shift and my drive is 45 min. My car stayed under 130 degrees unitl I went 65 on a really curvey off ramp, then from splashing back and forth the radiator jumped to 250 degrees and did not come back down so my guess is this is when I just lost most of the water out of my radiator. I will check in the dark if I can find a flash light but if it is as usual it will be about empty. The thing that really is crazy I don't find water on the ground none in my oil or any place else not even around the battery from the overflow. I would think even if I had a blown head gasket I would get water out of the tail pipe or in the oil. This car has done this off and on for about 2 years. I can run mid 11's all day long then driving home from the track it starts this crap. Maybe a cracked head or block but just can not find any fluid on the motor from up top or when under the car. It must be blowing the fluid out when driving 65+ and dries up around the car to hide the leak.

my coupe was doing this same thing it was baffling me for some time sometimes it would run cool but if i got on it or drove it on the highway for lenthy periods it would start to rise to 250+ i replaced head gaskets changed my intake changed to a cooler thermostat tried no thermostat you name it i tried it but i couldn't figure it out finally i discovered 2 things 1 time i remember getting on it hard and the car puffed a big cloud of white smoke (antifreeze burning) but it never did it again well when i was changing the intake from a downs ford upper/stage 3 ported truck lower to a tfs track heat intake i noticed upon starting the car it was smoking and everytime i revved it hard it would start puffing white smoke i thought i had just got a little coolant in the head until i noticed it was blowing coolant out the exhaust my first thought was a blown head gasket but not so i thought the head gasket looked fine i checked the head out and i couldn't find a crack anywhere i even took the valves out and checked inside the chambers to no avail so i put it back together and the sob was still doing the same thing turned out to be a tiny microscopic hairline crack in the #6 intake chamber when i was driving around i never noticed it blowing the coolant out the exhaust and for some reason after changing the intake and putting a 180 thermostat in it now it runs cool i didn't pull the head back off to fix it i just used some of that handy dandy coolant system stop leak and that fixed it and now thanks to my continuing driving of the car when it was heating up it has lost oil pressure due to eating up the main bearings i can't win for losing but at least it runs cool now.

Well problem found on the fluid exiting the radiator. I have had this problem for 2 years and now it has been found. Today finally water in the oil. Blown head gasket or cracked head. I have had heads for about a year now so since I need to change gaskets I will put them on.
