![]() Here is my set-up
E7's Ported and polished Explorer intake 3/8 inch phenolic spacer 65mm TB and 67mm EGR Aeromotive FPR underdrive pullies electric fan 1 5/8 equal length headers O/R X-pipe 2 chamber flow masters dumped steeda tri-ax shifter Ford racing clutch 3.73 gears and slicks removed sway bar sub frames steeda lower control arms My 5.0 is still speed density and still has the stock cam . I want to keep my 5.0 all engine and run in the N/A V-8 class at the track next year. My goal is to run mid 12's @3000ft with the stock heads. Here is my question. I want to change from 3.73 to 4.30 gears and run 27 inch slicks. That would put me crossing the line at 5600-5800rpm's in 4th. What cam do I need to keep it from dying out at the end of the 1/4. If anyone has any opinions or criticisms or alternatives on my 5.0's set-up. I would love to hear them. Thanks,

![]() You could go with a F cam. It pulls extremely hard through the mid range and up top. Or if you don't want a motorsport cam go with a custom one.

![]() EASY EASY EASY. I run 12.7s on radials at 107-109. I just bought a set of slicks. I think that they will get my 60ft time back in the 1.5s like I use to do. This alone will deepen the 12s for me. I also have NOS but don't use is at the track. What you are asking for is very reasonable. I use 4.30 gears, my radials are 275/60/15s the slicks are 26/9/15s Hoosiers. The track is hosting a Harly / Bike weekend so we will not get to run till Wed. and we have rain till thursday, so it my be as late as fri before I get to see the results of the slicks. E7s are rated in the garbage can next to any other ford heads out there, but their has been many of butt whipped by E7s. I have the E-cam right now but I will soon change to a Comp cam or a custom. The speed density will be fine also, no need to convert. Stay with me dude I gonna go 11s with what I have. What do you run right now?

So I am hoping to knock off a second in the 1/4 with. 4.30 gears slicks throttle body lower control arms and an aftermarket cam I have everything you could possibly do to E7's done to mine. Ported, polished, milled, blended 3 angle valve job and trick flow springs. I am thinking about pulling the heads off of my car and having bigger valves put in them. As well as having my GT-40 lower intake port matched to my heads. As long as I have my 5.0 it will be speed density and have E7's on it. Thanks for the replies,

![]() If the plan is full race car, gut it out. I am at 2740lbs with a full tank of gas. Thats with out the tubular front end parts I am dreaming about. The E7s and speed density will be just fine. The cam, B, E, or any other remotely close numbers. I am going to try a XE258HR from comp-cams. .533/.544 208/216 258/266 and 112LSA. I do have another E if you want it. You will need suspention. Front coils fron a 4cyl, or dedicated dragg springs and a set of 90/10s will do more good than anything else

![]() My Ecam peaked at 5500, and now 5700-5800 w/ 1.7 rockers. My best times are shifting at those rpms.
If you can mill your heads any further you may want to do that. You could always port the intake a little more too. Get it out there and see how it hooks, then u can try playin with the suspension. Of course a custom cam is probably always going to be the best. Skyler

![]() My heads are milled to the max, I used slicks before but they were old ones and didnt hook that great. I got two 1.79 60fts on them. But I had to abort the runs cause of detonation.
My best run came on a 2.07 60ft on nitto drag radials. I am leaning towards the E-cam with 1.7 RR. Later,

![]() If you plan on using slicks regularly, upgraded axles and a spool if it's a drag car.
what kind of power are you getting off the E7's? how much was the portwork and all? im working on new heads or porting the stock ones. im thinking gt-40's ported like yours are, but let me know how the E7's are holding up. |

![]() How much were your heads shaved? I might worry a little about clearance with an E cam and 1.7 rockers. Im not saying there will be but I would be worried.

I have about 500.00 dollars in my heads total. You really need to check out www.powerheads.com they have some very nice E7's on there for a descent price. Later,
