Default 347 short blocks...

which ones do you guys have and how are they? i was looking at a few such as the street fighter 347 from coast high performance, and dss, a few others as well but i forgot their names. most are in the mag that i was checkin out. another was from Bennit racing, this one was the most out of all of them for like 3500 or so. i figured i could take my TFS heads off my car that i got now, throw them on top of the 347 after porting them somewhat and getting a custom cam. anything would help guys. thanks.

I would not go with any of them. If you can't do it your self I would buy the stroker kit and take it to a good machine shop and have them do all the work. All the people that you named do build a great motor, but luck determans if you get one. Your set of ported trickflows, a custum cam, and a nice intake would make your car a nice streeet strip monster

I bought my short block from Ford Motorsports.
I didn't have any problems while I was building it.

i know that ported TF heads on my car with a custom cam would bring me down to high 11s with a great hole shot, but i figured if im going to do that then i might as well get some extra cubes in there with a fresh block, cause ill have to take the heads off again, pull the cam out.. blah blah blah. so i figured that ide either get a 347 of 331, but i was hearing also a while back that 347s burn alot of oil and so on, idk, but thanks.

I bought a 331 stroker kit from probe and had someone I know put the shortblock together using my stock 70K mile block. I have TFS heads also, plus I got the 10.5:1 compression kit. I love it, besides the cobra intake I have a great combo that I would bet could break 11's with a better intake and driver. Oh yeah, I still have the stock rev limiter too, so I can't take it to the rpms I need to. With me driving(not good) on street tires I ran a 13.2 at 109 but I was spinning the Zrated tires through third gear . It was also 100 degrees with 100 percent humidity when I ran it. It also has no tune, I just set the timing and fuel pressure to where it feels best but I know it can be better. It would help if I had money to get this stuff done .

i am building a 347 with the 5.4 rods (pin bore intersects the oil ring) i have asked many many people and everyone with the same combo says that they have absolutely no oil problems. (blowby) SO I GUESS ITS A MYTH

Naw, older style 347's did have an oil problem, it has been corrected for a long while now by relocating the pin.

summitt has a 347 kit, frpp, cch, ect... and i hear d.s.s builds a killer block, either way, you want one pre balanced, or if you build one, have a machine shop balance the assembly.
