Question Time for a new battery I think - What to get??

I've been looking at some of the Hi-Po gel cell batteries. What do you guys recommend for a daily driver with a hatch mount battery?

Thanks.

Optima. Especially if there's a possibility of it coming in contact with you in an accident.

Take care

Well, out of the three people I've had give me suggestions they have all said Optima =)

I guess that's what I'll get.

2FastLX:

I've had an Optima battery for a few years now and never a problem. Expensive ($130.) but a good deal, in my opinion.
I bought mine on the basis of opinions from gel-cell battery users on this board and especially 'PKRWUD' (Chris), who knows what he's talking about.

I ordered an Optima from Holcomb a little while ago. But, I just got back from taking my battery to AutoZone and they said it was fine so I guess I don't need the battery after all.

Thanks for the replies though. I'll be getting one of the Optima batteries as soon as I get the tranny

I do have another question though...
What would cause a lead battery terminal to turn black like a piece of charcoal? It doesn't look like it was hot. It's just black.

Could be corrosion, could be little green men roasting marshmallows on your battery. Try cleaning the post with a wire post cleaner and see how quickly the discoloration returns.

Take care

Well, I just cleaned the terminals after charging the battery all night and now it seems my remote for my alarm is dead.

I was thinking before that it could be my alarm system but the starter would crank over a little with a jump. I'm going to try a new starter today.
