![]() The trans mount bolts are exactly 2" farther forward. You need the bellhousing bolts, flex plate, converter, dipstick & tube, block plate (thin plate between engine & trans) and the shifter. The AOD yoke should fit the c-4, and the driveshaft should even be the right length! For good tranny builders, try www.artcarr.com, www.levelten.com, hughes transmissions for a couple. For that power, you'll need the gearset with the extra pinions as well as the normal hd clutches etc.

![]() Oops! For flexplate, you need to make sure you have a 50 oz imbalance (later models 302) versus the 28 oz imbalance (earlier models) so you might have to find a diff. plexplate. Probably good to get an aftermarket one anyway for that power. You could reuse your starter if you get a flexplate with the same number of teeth.

![]() Make sure you know what you want. If you want a lot of clearance you should get the small bellhousing C-4. With the small bell C-4 you will need a 157 tooth flexplate (50 oz). B&M makes flexplates with both 10 1/2 and 11 7/16 with 157 teeth and a 50 oz imbalance and so does TCI. Make sure that when you get a converter you know what bolt spacing you have for the converter studs (there is 9 something ", a 10.5 ", and an 11 7/16). For the small bellhousing you can use a T-5 shim plate (goes in between motor and bellhousing).
If you use the big bell C-4 you can use the AOD flexplate, but make sure the converter you buy has the 11 7/16 bolt spacing. Other than that everything works (drive shaft, cross-member, etc). You will need a different shifter though. My buddy actually used the B&M Pro Ratchet shifter for AOD/C-4 for a Mustang. Hope I helped Jason |

![]() Hey, thanks for the info... Where should I buy my C4 from, and can they also sell me all the extras to make it work? What do you think this stuff would cost? I saw a TCI trans in Jegs or Summit. Are those any good?

![]() I know that Dynamic makes good valve bodies and other components. Right now my buddy has a Regular C-4 with a Dynamic valve body with a Coan converter.
I think Performance Automatic makes a pretty good C-4 also. There is a company with a lifetime warranty. All you pay is shipping to get it rebuilt. Talk to those who are running C-4's around you and find out who has a good transmission shop around your area. Jason |
