![]() I feel like a goon asking this, but what is valve float and what are the symptoms? I am trying to diagnose something on Marbles and want to be sure i have all of the info i need. Thanks.

![]() Here's the tech book answer:
Valve Float A high-rpm engine condition in which the valve lifters lose contact with the cam lobes because the valve springs are not strong enough to overcome the momentum of the various valvetrain components. The onset of valve float prevents higher-rpm operation. Extended periods of valve float will damage the valvetrain. The simple answer is that your valve springs probably need to be replaced. |

![]() Your power band stops shorter than it should. Basically, if you know your combination should pull past 6000rpms, but it just stops pulling around 5000rpms, and you have stock springs, it's valve float.
