![]() Has anyone used the AFR 165 heads on a 306? I am doing research on which will be the best head for my engine. It will be a 306 with 10.0 compression and I have not decided on the cam yet. The engine will be a daily driver in a stock weight 73 Mustang @ 3300 lbs. It will be backed with a Tremec 3550 and whatever gear the cam dictates.

![]() i've never seen anyone modify a 73 but it sounds like your on the right track especially the tremec part, how was that to install in there? with that big of a car i'd go with a cam and rear end gear that will give you the most down low power to get it up and goin it seems you've also picked IMO the best box stock heads out right now for a 302 good luck with it, sounds like a real project ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, full exhaust,65mm TB, Nitto DR's, new best 1/4--> 13.42@106.18 (1.89 short time) |

![]() spring for a custom cam... from flow tech induction or someplace like that... the AFR heads will work good on a heavy car..great port velocity and bottom end torque ;-)
