Post 302 Engine

A buddy of mine is replacing his engine. He has the choice to put in any year he wants. What is the best year engine to put into his 89 lx 5.O? The year would have to be from 88-92.

Thanks

I think your buddy should not be too excited over his choice here. No matter what he asks for, he's gonna get the same engine. Like Mach 1 said, they are all the same....at least at a remanufactured engine place. Hell, the motor could have come out of a Country Squire for all he knows

Is he going to build or have a performance engine built? Or is it going to be a drop in and go? When I built my 302 (actually still in building process) I managed to get a 302 mexican block. These blocks are higher in nickle content and are excellent performance motor bases. Another good choice ia an early 302 block. These block are well seasoned and also have a higher nickle content.
