![]() okay driving throught town last night and i noticed that my car had a check oil light on and i didnt know what was up with that, i have just replaced the valve cover gaskets and the intake gaskets, and oil pan gasket. I am constantly check ing the oil to make sure its where it needs to be but then tonight i am driving and the car throws the check oil light and is about a quart low, now the car is running great, and i didnt think it was burning oil, anyone got any ideas? i run 10w40 and i changed the oil like a month ago. any help would be greatly appreciated. also just a note, the car is supercharged.

![]() Well, dude. 1 quart every 1000mi is not considered excessive for the forged piston 5.0L HO engine. Many people get much less than that, but a month for an average driver is about 1000mi. Something that concerns me is the fact the oil light comes on about 1 1/2 quarts or 2 quarts down, correct?
Anyway, adding a blower will increase the heat and pressure, which in turn has a tendancy to accelerate oil burning. You may be forcing oil back by the PVC valve and it could be burning that way as well. How many miles on a quart are you getting? |

![]() Well the car has been getting about 700-800 miles a quart, maybe a bit more, im not for sure, but the problem is that i had checked the oil the week before and it was normal, then a week later the check oil light comes on, now that ISNT normal. I mean i reallly dont think my car could burn a quart of oil in a week. and i didnt drive an excessive distance either, nothing more than the usual which is about 100 miles a week or a bit less. i just hope there isnt anything wrong with the internals of the engine, but its running fine and there isnt any smoke comming out the exhaust or anything. any ideas?

![]() I have a simliar problem with my oil "vanishing"
It never smokes,at idle or @ wide open throttle. The car has 47,198 miles always been perfectly maintained.I'll lose a quart and ahalf between oil changes,I change the oil at 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic. |

![]() Hey, I have a 90 Gt and a 89 lx and both of them use about 1-1.5 quarts per oil change of 3000 miles. The sudden loss of oil could have been blown out of the pcv from pressure or your rear main seal could be bad (notorious for that problem). If it keeps it up losing oil every 100-200 miles then you have a leak, but if it only loses 1 quart every 3000 then it is normal.
Does the Novi 1000 use engine oil to lubricate itself? If it does you might want to look for an internal leak there too.
