![]() I have the chance to pick up a new CNC stage 3 ported Saleen/Vortech intake for cheap from a buddy that wants the holley instead. Anyone have any thoughts about the intake good or bad?

![]() I have experience with three intakes: Edelbrock Performer, Saleen, and now my TFS Street Heat. My intake was ported like the one you are talking about. When I switched from the the Edelbrock to the Saleen, I picked up 20rwhp across the powerband. I didn't lose any to torque. I am giving my Saleen to a friend, so I picked up a TFS that I ported and gasket matched to my heads. After running the car with the new intake, I can tell you that I am VERY disapointed with the TFS. The Saleen pulled like a monster all the way to 6000+ RPM's. I haven't been back to the dyno to see exactly what I lost, but by the 'seat of the pants' dyno, I know I have lost lots of top end hp and the torque seems to have stayed the same.
Sorry to ramble on, but to make a long story short, if you can get it for a good deal, it is a great intake. The only downside is the truck lower that it uses... not the best of quality. The upper, on the other hand, looks like no other intake and I can promise you, you will get MANY compliments on the engine after the install. I hope this helps. ------------------ MAC equal length headers, MAC Off-Road H-Pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, 373's, March ram-air kit, underdrive pulleys, 73mm MAF, 75mm TB, Saleen Intake (ported), Edelbrock 6037 heads (ported, polished, 3 angle valve-job 255CFM @.500), 1.6 FMS RR's, Wolverine 1087 Cam, 24lb injectors, MSD 6AL, Subframe connectors, Griggs Adustable Lower Control Arms, Lakewood 50/50 shocks, SSM Upper Control Arms... and probably some more in there I forgot |
