Default How much are stock injectors costing me?

I realize that all cars respond differently but I'm just curious what some of you think. How much more power (if any) is there to be had by upgrading to 24's.

My mods are in the sig. I havn't had any porting or shaving done. I also have a 155lph fuel pump, an adjustable regulator, 65mm t-body, and a 73mm mass air meter. I'm still running stock injectors and computer. I've been running this combo for a few years now and aside from the occasional surging idle, I've had no problems (400+ miles per week).

It's been over a year since my last performance mod (3.73 to 4.10) which is why I'm itching to do something, lol. From what I've heard, upgrading my injectors would be a good way to get a little more out of my current combo, without spending too much money.

In the future I will be porting the heads and having the block bored.

Any input is appreciated.

i think the stock 19 lb injector can make about 300 hp. you have enough mods that you could use the 24's.

I don't think you could go wrong going with 24's. For what it's worth, I saw one of my friends run 11.80s at Rockingham with the 19 lb injectors in his 86' GT. The car had suspension, weight reduction, gear, exhaust, and a 150 shot. He was leaning out on top, but he made 5 passes that day without every blowing a headgasket.

Thanks guys. I've been told that I'm at about the limit for my stockers. They've served me well, but I think its time for to head on over to PAW.

Your right on the borderline. Since your itching to spend money, an injecter upgrade would definately be a good choice. 24 lbers of course.

Dont forget to have your MAF meter re-calibrated.

I have the reverse question. I am thinking of replacing my fuel pump, injectors due to the age and miles of the car since this is my daily driver. I have been upgrading the car as I replace original parts, but am subatantially stock still. I do want to upgrage to a 65 or possibly 70mm TB and a 73 or so MAF, this leads me to wonder about going to 24 LB injectors along with the MAF. Exhaust upgrades are soon coming, and I am teetering towards 1 5/8 long tubes or shorties to replace my crusty stock headers and H pipe.

I was planning a 110 or 155 LPH pump to replace the old stock unit. The injectors are pretty good now, but I figure they are pretty old, and the price for a new set is not a killer.

Will I end up with problems running the 24# injectors?? I figure I will need an adjustable FPR along with the new pump.

Since it sounds like your staying close to stock, don't get a 70mm TB, stick with a 65mm. A 70 will actually hurt you unless your going forced induction or head towards a big HP application. As far as the 24lb injectors, if you get them you will definately need an adjustable regulator cause it's going to run rich without it. I don't see any problems with you running them, but I bet if you asked someones got a set of low mileage 19's you could probably get for next to nothing.

Do you have any future plans? Holley does recommend 30lb'ers with their systemax kit, @ only 350 horse.
