Default egr spacer?? please help

2 quick questions...

1) on an 87-93 mustang, if upgrading to a 70mm tb do i have to use an egr spacer? just wondering because i'm not using an egr valve.. i guess the main question is can this be done, like do the bolt holes line up and would anything bad happen if i did?

2) since i'm not running an egr valve my "check engine light" came on.. is there anyway to turn this off??

p.s. this is on my '94 cobra

thanks, josh
