![]() Need some help here guys trying to figure out a problem. I've got a 89 stang with the following mods: Cobra intake(ported),65mm tb with a 73mm mass air,#24 injectors with a 190lph pump, tfs twisted wedge heads ported an polished,X303 cam,set of pistons running around 10.9:1 compression, aod trans with a lentech valve body.
Here's my problem: as soon as the car hits 6000(autometer tach) its like someone turned the key off, just dies. Pulls real hard until it gets there. Whatcha think? Fuel? electrical? None of the above. Help Please ![]() Car runs 12.80@109(lentech convertor coming soon) ![]() |

![]() Sounds like you hit the rev limiter, keeps you from destroying things. This is normal

![]() Yeah...I'd say rev limiter as well.
The EEC-IV shuts fuel to the injectors at 6250 rpm. Also, if you don't have quality springs in your car, it's likely that you're getting some float before you even hit the limiter after about 6000. When your valves float even a little, raw fuel gets dumped into the exhaust system causing the O2 sensors to signal a rich condition to the computer which will then go into a full-lean metering to effectively slow the engine down. If your tach is off a little, you're probably hitting the rev limiter. Otherwise, I'd guess it was springs. You've got plenty of fuel capability there with the 190lph pump and 24lb injectors, so I don't think that is the problem. --nathan

![]() 89's don't have a factory rev limiter though.
