Default make my own 5.0?

Let me start by saying hey, i've been out of the stang craze for about 2 years! I tried the LT1 on for size in a 95 formula, but it tore up....IMAGINE THAT! I hate GM for making that junk I owned, so now I've got a reliable (slowww) honda and I'm thinking about turning an old fox body 4 cyl into a 5.0 car. My friend is in the process of building one, so I have most of it covered when I decide to do it. I know that i need an 8.8 (covered), a 5.0 from a junkyard to build($$$), and a tranny, besides springs and a clutch, am I forgetting anything?

If your wondering why do this, in North Alabama a ragged out JUNK Stang sales for about $3,500 to $4,500, then there is the rebuild on top of that, and I'm sure I can get out much cheaper with my friend's wholesale hook-up- just wondering if any one has attempted this? thanx!

I'm no expert on this but I do know that this swap has been done many times before you.
I think you will also need to grab the computer and wiring harness off of the 5.0
good luck with the swap

I did the swap usin a 88 lx 4cyl and a 89 lx hatch 5.0 I only had 1500 in the whole thing.Trust me on this one buy a whole wrecked 5.0 car and a 4 cyl. car with a good straight body with maybe a bad motor ,tranny etc.You will save alot of runnin around lookin for this and that if you have the whole car.

I HIGHLY recommend you buy a wrecked 5.0 for a parts car. I'm planing this swap myself, and I feel it is the best way to go

BTW, what town are you from? I live in Meridan, Mississippi.

Default a tip for the swap

Here is just a lil tip that will make things much easier,if you have a 87-89 4 cyl car buy a 87-89 5.0 parts car and if you have a 90-93 4 banger buy a 91-93 5.0 car. the dash harness is diff. from the 87-89 and the 90-93's.If you don't you will have to swap the dash harness which will be a royal pain.If you buy like I told you above you can just plug the engine harness right into the 4cyl chassis and dash harness with no problems. If you have any ??'s just email me I will be glad to try and help .Good luck!
