![]() Hey Chris (or anybody else that can help). I just bought another Coupe, this time a 92. It has an AOD or maybe an AODE in it (no idea about AOD's here) and it's giving me some shifting problems.
SYMPTOMS: * When it shifts from 1st to 2nd it seems to slip just slightly until it finishes the shift. From 2nd to 3rd it slips until the tach hits 4500rpm. Going into OD seems to be ok or at least not noticable. * Once it shifts I can accelerate fine without any slipping whatsoever. * The passing gear doesn't seem to work. When I mash the pedal to the floor it doesn't down shift. CONDITIONS: * Fluid is full and looks clean. * I've yet to check the filter. * I'm sick of this! Could it be something as simple as the TV cable out of adjustment? I've been told it may be the "accumulator??" and if it is $30 and 30 minutes should take care of the problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

![]() At least 90% of your complaint is typical of a TV cable that is not adjusted right. It's an easy adjustment to make. With the engine off, pry the cable adjuster (near the end of the cable) away from the TB, and then push up the locking pin from underneath it. It will be lose now. While applying force to the throttle, against the throttle stop, snap the adjuster back into the TB, and push it together. This will lock it in the correct place. Now, grab the cable on the transmission side of the TB, and pull it foreward a few inches. It should do this with increasing resistance. Then let go, and it should go back to the spot where you adjusted it. If it does, you should be good to go.
Do this first, and let me know what happens. Take care, -Chris
