Post 8.8 Rear

I'm putting 3.73 gears in my 86 GT. What type of oil is required, and do I need to put a friction modifier in the oil? Thanks for the help?

Pretty sure it's 2 quarts 80w 90 and 4 oz. of friction modifier. If you don't use the modifier I've heard your trac loc won't fuction correctly.

I used two bottles of Red Line 75w90 ( I think) synthetic with traction lock additive. That'll do the trick. Otherwise I'd find a good synthetic gear oil 75w90 and get the traction lock additive from ford.

Hey Jon_68stang, did you put the gears in yourself? I'm going to be putting the same size of gears in my car, and I'm thinking of doing it myself. I was wondering if you knew the steps to installing...
