Post Lifter Swap Help

i have noticed a ticking from the drivers side and i believe that it is a lifter that is not pumping up and i might as well go ahead and change all of them. Might someone have any suggestions as to an easier way to go about replacing them than as follows:

Remove all fuel injection and both manifolds. Then remove valve covers. Loosten fulcrum bolts and rotate them to the side. Remove the pushrods ,tappet guide retainer and guide plates. Then remove the lifters with a magnet.

Any help and/or more precise directions would be appreciated. Would it be easier to just change one? Any way around removign the lower manifold?? Any suggestions appreciated. Also is this what is causing my idle speed to vary from a normal lobe (800) to high (1200-1300??
