Post Unplugging the Speedometer??

I know it's not legal to do but my buddies parents are going to Las Vegas for the week and they are leavein the keys to the supercharged stang with him. We are pretty sure that they wrote down the amount of miles that were on the car. So question is we are going to take it out saturday and pick up some chicks, What do I need to unplug so it doesn't register the miles? I know I can take out the cable and gear, but from what I hear all you have to do is unplug a wire and it's won't register them. So whats the scoop here guys? Fess up to it! By the way it's a 95 GT KB 10 psi., auto, ect...

just pull the cable out of the tranny and you are good. I used to do it when I was younger (and dumber) just be careful not to wreck the damn thing.

It won't get wrecked. I'm not a crazy, see how fast you can go person, just a little tire spin here and there. I know I can pull the cable but then tranny fuild will spill out. Only reason I asked about it because, I here that there is an electrical plug that you can pull and it will do the same(only on the 94-95 cars). Thanks for your input.

I dont condone it, and dont get caught...

But, remove the speedo cable from tranny with 3/8" socket. Pull out cable. Remove c-clip holding in the plastic gear. Put gear in your pocket (DONT LOSE IT). Reinstall speedo cable into trans.

DONT FORGET TO REVERSE THIS PROCEDURE

93CobraR,

Here's the easy way...

Jack the rear wheels up off the ground, start her up, drop the tranny in reverse and go have a few beers.

Come back an hour or so later and calculate how many miles you've removed from odometer. Need more, go have a few more beers.

Used to work for me when my folks went out of town!

Backing up the rear wheels will not work. Here is an update. We took the car and had the tire patched like his parents told him and brought it home safely. So we decided to take out his Jeep Cherokee and go mudding, well on our way out of the huge mud field, 50ft. from the road the Jeep quit moving. I looked out under the car and when the thing was in drive you can give it gas and the tires won't even spin, so I'm guessing the automatic tranny is burnt up. His parents wew expecting it to go since it has over 200,000 on it. So here I am soak in wet and covered in damn mud up to my knees! I knew we should have just taken out the GT longer and forgot the mudding idea.
