Default Will overfilling a T-5 hurt it?

If you add fluid trough the shifter opening and over fill it anywhere from a ½ to a full quart will it hurt anything?

You should not have to overfill it!! Just remove the fill plug and it will drain to the proper level!!! I had a hell of a time filing my T-5 from underneath cus I did not have a hand pump. I ended up having jiffy lube drain and refill my rebuilt T-5 after 500 miles cus I wanted no part of that chore again
Never thought of pouring in through the shifter, but why not just get a small hand pump and fill it the right way. Taking off the inner boot was not much of a fun thing either, and mine got all ripped up in the process, only 4 trips to the dealer and $32 later finally got me my new inner boot!

I fill mine through the shifter. First I remove the fill plug. It will drip when it's full.

Actually filling up the tranny too far will hurt things. Mainly seals. I blew my output shaft seal, and the seal on the bottom of the tranny from having about a quart and a half too much in it. now I ride around with 2 quarts, maybe a little more in it.
later

Yes he is right too much fluid will blow seals same for too much oil in the motor, it will make gaskets leak.

I fill mine through the shifter and whennit just starts to come out of the Fill plug I shut it.

This is OT, but did you once blow past me on Rt. 9, Chevyguy? I seem to recall a dull flash of black and some ten-holes on my right-side while trying to take a left.
