![]() I want to get some gauger so I can monitor my engine better. What gauges would be most valuable to me?
I know the stock oil pressure gauge is not very good. |

![]() Every vehicle I ever own will have a vacuum gauge, a reliable oil pressure and temp gauge, and a voltmeter. The oil and temp gauges are for piece of mind, the voltmeter is for safety, and the vacuum is for diagnostics. If you haven't read it yet, go look for my post on vacuum gauges and you'll see what I mean.

![]() Your stock temp gauge is a water temp gauge, and no, they suck. All the factory gauges do. You are going to want to buy mechanical gauges. A fuel pressure gauge is an unecessary luxury unless you've got boost or an otherwise heavily modified engine. Get a nice mechanical gauge set (water temp/oil psi/volts) and add a vacuum gauge as well. That should hold you over for a while.

![]() Are the cheaper gauges any good. like the ones from JC Whitney. Or should I spend more money on better quality ones?

![]() You get what you pay for. It's your call. I always use Auto Meter Sport Comps because I think they are the most reliable for the money, but in the Sprint car we won't use anything other than Pro Comps.
