WHAT HORSE POWER GAINS COULD I EXPECT WHEN BYPASSING THE A\C AND THE SMOG PUMP. (THANKS IN ADVANCE).

Actually, I think it may be a little more than 5 hp. I've heard that it takes approx 15 hp to run the AC (when the compressor is on) and I'm not sure about the smog pump.
The way I look at it, the power it takes to turn these accesories will be better utilized by the rear wheels. Good luck!

According to my 5.0 FORD DYNO TEST book (pg.7), they bypassed the smog and A/C on a stock 302. The only gain was 3 hp. There are other ways to gain more hp and stay cool.

If I am not mistaken at WOT the AC compressor cuts off. That would explain the 3HP likely being the smog pump alone. The AC would take about 20HP but nothing at WOT. I think
