				 | Performance Friction Pads I'm looking at getting a set of front Performance Friction pads for my '89LX 5.0. Anybody have any opinions or reviews on either the Carbon Metallic or the Z-Rated pads? Thanks, Rich D. |

				 | Those pads are crap with a capital C I had them on my car and they didn't wear down 1 bit in like 6 months. But my rotors did Now after I replaced my rotors, I've been using the cheapo $15 autozone pads and no problems since

				 | I had the carbon metalic on my car and I got rid of them because my stopping distance about doubled. It got interesting when I was standing on the pedal as hard as I could hoping i wouldn't hit the car in front of me.

				 | I don't have any experience with those particular brakes but I do have a little opinion on brakes in general. this is one of those situations where racing pads may not be better. Race pads are designed to work well at higher temperatures and braking abuse and avoid fading. For a street car you will never get them up to temperature and they will not perform as well as a cheaper brake pad that is designed for normal street driving. Also depending on the brakes, a lot of times the materials in the pads are chosen to work well with a particular material used in the rotors and if these materials aren't compatible then the brakes won't perform up to par. If you get the best, most expensive pads and don't upgrade the rotors you might as well just give me the money In my opinion I wouldn't bother unless you are building a race car. In that case I definately would get them. Some of these other guys have them and like them so the call is up to you
