![]() I'm currently looking into building a 331 stroker engine. This will be my first stroker and I'm a little confused as to what to expect as I dive into this project. Who are reputable distributors of cranks and rods? Will the compression differ from a regular 302 engine with some 60 cc heads that being roughly estimated 9.8:1. Also what type of gasoline should be neccesary for this engine if I run 34 degrees total timing a 10:1 compression and 100 shot nitrous? Will 91 octane be sufficient? Sorry for so many questions just trying to get my worries out. Thanks in advance guys.

![]() Right now i'm working on a 393 stroker that i got from DSS. I would recommend getting a complete kit, or rotating assembly from one place. As far as I know Coast High Performance or DSS make really good kits. If you're planning on using the stock 302 block i would definately get main girdles, especially if you go nitrous. the 302 block will be running on the edge of it's capability. As far as fuel. The more compression and timing, the higher octane fuel you will need. other than that i would just suggest getting all your stuff from coast or dss, it will save you some hassle and you'll probably end up getting everything cheaper from a kit anyway.

![]() The nitrous will be a wet kit carbed.
I found a place from riverside that sales cranks and rods I think they are eagle. Anyone hear anything about this brand? They give promising info on their cranks. shot peened, sonic tested, micro polished, ect.

![]() My friend run an eagle 347 w/gt40 x heads and 200 shot. On motor at bradenton he went 12.40, on gas he went 11.39 or real close to that at 121. His car has mad top end. oh and he spun the slicks through 3rd on spray and 2nd on motor

![]() I got my crank from Coast, but I also have a A4 block.....I strongly suggest a 4 bolt. You will not get many miles out of a stoker becuse of the bind the longer rods put on the bearings and rings...you will burn oil naturally. My motor is only 5000 miles old and I go through a quart a month. Coast and DSS make good parts. My car runs like a beast....dynoed 378 rwhp w/o the blower, chech the ridessection for my mods.

![]() How many miles do stroker motors last? Also when you say it burns oil can you see while idleing or stomping on it? How much longer does a 331 last compared to a 347?
I was thinking about adding a main griddle with milodon main caps. Unless I can find a mexican block for similar price of what I'll be spending on these parts.

![]() My biddy got a lot higher quality components in a kit other than coast for less money. shop around, coast has a poor reputation among more than one person. A 331 shouldnt burn as much oil as a 347, hopefully it wont burn any. I heard it has a better rod to /stroke ratio than a 302.

![]() zepherman - you can get an R302 (4 bolt) block from Keith Craft for around $1,600. This will be in cast form and will need to be machined.
You can get them from other places as well - I think Coast has them too. If you're going to spend the money on a 4-bolt, you should ensure that a reputable shop does the work. If money is no object, then just give the guys down at Bennett Racing a call - these guys are very expensive, but put out some of the baddest Ford smallblocks in the country! ![]() E
