Default ring gear

I just recently recieved a 3.73 gear from a guy on e-bay. He told me he might have sent me the ring and pinion from a 7.5 in. rearend on accident. How can I measure the ring gear to make sure it is for an 8.8.

The ring gear diameter will either be 8.8" or 7.5". Use a ruler. Pretty simple.

Take care,
