Default srod to t5 swap problem

ive completed the swap except for my backup lights. my problem is this, i have 3.73 gears. it seems i cant launch the car anymore. it just smokes. i broke my factory slap bars 2 yrs ago, but was still able to launch with the srod. im running 195/60/14 and im positive im going to have to go with a larger tire. but does somebody have any low budget suggestions ie.. no lakewoods if i can help it?
also it seems the car is much slower through the quarter mile. has anybody else noticed this?maybe i should try launching in 2nd?

if you launch in 2nd you can say bye bye to your clutch

what year mustang are you working with? any mods?

you will DEFINATELY need much larger tires. Find some old used 10hole or turbine wheels if your on a budget. They are both 15x7.5" wheels and can hold a 255/15 pretty well.

I went from AOD to T-5 with 225/60 15's on mine and I couldn't even floor it at all in 1st gear. I cant imagine what it is like with 195's on there

Heck any T-5 mustang with 195's, even completely stock, will shread the tires badly.

Get some meaty tires and you'll be all set.

I have heard that the bellhousing for your srod also works with the tremec. I would keepthat one around as the tremec will be next

The T-5 should own an SROD through the quarter mile. It's a closer ratio tranny. The SROD is nothing more than a slightly modified Toploader with an aluminum case. The reason the bell fits a Tremec is the fact the Tremec is based on the Toploader, Tremec bought the rights to the toploader.
