Is this a PI converter???
Hey everyone, I dropped my blown AOD today, and realized that the converter is not the original. It's all black, has a drain plug (oooh!), and has the number 432700 stamped into the front of it. PI was the first thing I thought since PI is the only converter maker I know of that uses a 6-digit part number. Anyone have an idea as to if it is or not??? If so, do you know the stall rating and if it's a lockup or not? Thanks.

Well, I can tell you that my PI converter is purple, does not have a drain plug, and is smaller is diameter than the stock converter, so I would say, no, that you do not have a PI converter.
To the best of my knowledge, the factory ford converter is the only one that uses the drain plug, so I would say that is what you have. ------------------ 1993 GT/AOD '93 Mustang GT |

Nope, it's a TCI. Further inspection revealed a stamping that said TCI, right opposite the part number. My bad.
At least I won't have to buy a new converter for my setup this summer! The part number verifies it's a Saturday Night Special w/ lockup. According to TCI's website, it's perfect for what I am and will be running. BTW, Summit wants $289.99 for it brand new. OUCH! Okay, my rant is over. Some good news for once, WOOHOO! ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch |
