![]() i think the information in those articles was slightly exagerated, but some of it seems valid. I can see how having the gas tank in the rear, as our mustangs do, could be dangerous in the event of a 50 mph crash, but get serious, a 50 mph crash is going to be extreamly dangerous no matter where the gas tank is. a gas tank mounted ANYWHERE in the rear of a car is going to be damaged when a 4000lb+ chunk of steel is slamed into it a 50 miles per hour.
Three things to remember no matter what car you drive. 1. always have a fire extinguisher. 2. It is a good idea to have an automatic center punch in the glove box to break out windows incase the doors cannot be opend. 3. This one is important but often overlooked. After any major accident ALWAYS TURN THE IGNITION OFF. Alot of times the accident will cause the motor to die and people forget to turn the ignition off. Drive Safely.
