Default 3.08's to 3.55 used gears

Hi All,

2 questions, I have a 93 GT with stock 3.08's in it. Would I notice a big difference w/3.55's. The other problem I have is I'm cheap. Are used gears OK?

I was always told NEVER use used ones. You should notice some difference.

Default GEARS

Hey I've got a 90' GT Conv. I changed my gears,i took the 3.55s out of my LX and put them in my GT what a difference! As far as used gears thats all I've ever bought! Never had a problem...Just if you just change the Carrier, make sure the guy doing it REALLY knows what he's doing!!!!! Its a art!!!! I think anyways!(oppossed to changing the whole rearend..drum to drum.)

Used gears are okay, as long as they have a good wear pattern. I'd recommend magnafluxing them for cracks. Also, make sure the ring and pinion are a matched set.

Take care,
-Chris

OK, I'll think about the used gears. From what I've heard its a Mechanics install - too involved for the backyard guy. This true?

I will be putting 3.55's in place of my 2.73's so this just reinforces my hopes. Thanks!

All I can squeeze out of my 2.73's are a 2.3 60' !!!
