Default Having trouble putting in My NOS Kit

I just got my kit today. wanted to start putting it together but it seems most of the threads on the fittings aren't very well matched, i had to turn extreamly hard to get the TEE fitting in the solinoid and it only went in about half way after that. Anyone else have this prob? I don't really feel like tapping all the fittings, any suggestions?

Well, are you using thread sealant?, don't use teflon tape, it can get in the lines and block them, use a "wet" sealant.

This should help them go together better.

And anyway, the first thing in the directions is to install the bottle brackets right?, don't get ahead of yourself.

i am sure if the bottle brackets aen't installed till later it won't make a diffrence. I am usning teflon paste to seal the fittings.

well if they are pipe threads (tapered) and i'm guessing they are, then they aren't made to screw all the way together like you may think.
The rule of thumb is it should get pretty tight within 2 and a half turns.

I would say 2.5 turns is way to little, with paste sealant they should begin to tighten around 4-5 turns, completely tight is going to be your call. When tighten these type of fittings I always choked up on the wrench, this reduces torque applied and increases sensitivity felt in your hand. Good luck, you'll love that first hit of spray, It literally is a GAS!

The reason I mentioned doing the brackets first, is I believe in following instructions exactly.

ok since i haven't messed with pipe threads in a little while, i kinda got myself and possibly you confused

When I was in my senior year of highschool (2000) I was accepted in a training program job at Eli Lilly and Co as a machinist.

When I was turning pipe threads on the lathe I was tought to get it close enough to where the fitting would go on 2.5 turns BY HAND, and then tighten it the rest of the way. sorry for the confusion, i wasnt thinking right and therefore told you the wrong information.

So it should get hand tight a little over 2 turns, then you can wrench it.

sorry again
