Fel Pro Gaskets
Hi All,
I'm reassembling an engine for 87 gt and I'm using Felpro gaskets on the intake and oil pan. Does anyone know if felpro recommends any gasket sealant? If so what kind? Permatex? RTV?. Thanks in advance for the help. Paul |

I use permatex on the intake. No problems with it leaking.

you dont need anything on the intake other than a small bead of RTV around the water ports

You can dump the cork end gaskets in favor of a thick bead of RTV. That's what a lot of people do...I've done it about 8-9 times.

RTV the ends (front/rear) of the intake with 1/4" bead on the intake and 1/4" on the block. Let them sit 5 minutes, then assemble (squish) together.
RTV a light (bread and butter) smear around each water port for the intake/heads gasket (both sides). Use ARP assembly Moly lube for all the bolts, and ARP thread sealant on lower (outter) head bolts and all your thermostat and cap-plugs... NO NOTHIN' on the head gaskets themselves (just dry). p.s. Get some Thread Chasers from Summit for $15. To clean out the threads of gunk, to get accurate reading when torquing everything down. I just did all this in April when I put this motor together.
