95 GT esentially has the same motor as any earlier 5.0 except from 93 on up they went with hyper pistons. Its rated at 215hp. The 99 and up GT's are rated at 260hp.

Actually, if you want to get really technical, the 94-95 GT's with the 5spd were rated at 225hp, and the auto's were rated at 215hp.

Then in '96 the 4.6 SOHC was introduced. It also was rated at 215hp, but for both manuals and autos. Due to it's peakier output it dropped performance when compared to the 94-95's. It also weighed a little more.

In '98 the first mods to the the 4.6 SOHC motor were made, and it was upped to 225hp.

In '99 the second generation 4.6 SOHC motor was realeased, and in a new body style. It makes 260hp.

Reasonable performance expectations.
94-95 manual 14.9
96-97 manual 15.1
98-98 manual 15.0
99-01 manual 14.0

The '99GT is well worth the extra cash, don't you think?

The Cobra's are another story.
