Question Widest Tires on Pony Rims

I'm updating my 89'GT with 91-93 Pony rims. I currently have 225's all around. What's the widest tire I could use without having rubbing problems. My '93 Cobra came factory equipped with 245's. Can I go wider??

From what I've heard you can put 245/50 on your car if it is not lowered more than an inch. If it is lowered more than an inch then you can put 245/50 on the back but will need 245/45 on the front. You may get some rubbing but only at full crank. I think I'm going to stick with my 225/55 unless I can find some 235.

Cool

I'm lowered about 1 1/2" and am running 245/50/16's. I don't rub at all. I'm thinking of getting drag radials for my rear and the closest size I see is 255/50/16's. Think it'll be OK?

I'm running 245/50/16's on my car. Noticed just a little more play in side wall with added width on 7 inch rim. Buy Z rated tires for more side wall stiffness. Gives your stang a nice looking stance with added tire width. Plus they hook up better too.
