Default Help I Need Traction

Ok guys this is my first post so please bare with me, I've been searching on most of the mustang boards for some info so I figured I might as well post and ask.
I need traction, I've got a 90 GT, full weight car, 5 speed, stock exhaust even the factory cats, 4.11 gears, under drive pulleys and ofcourse I've dropped the silencer and and cranked the timing. Last week I can my quickest time ever a 14.113@98.6 mph but I was spinning BIG TIME. I cut a 2.26 60' on that pass.
Now the tires I'm running skinnies up front and Drag Lites with 265/50R15 Cooper Cobras on the back. The week before I cut about 4 2.0 60 foots and belive it or not it was still spinning....my slowest that day was a 2.25 and I was averaging in the 2.1 range.
Ok here's the question, does anybody know of any like freebie type tricks I can pull on it to get some more traction, I'm not cheap or anything I'm trying to catch my buddies 13.60 almost stock Trans Am and I'd like to do it on REAL street tires without any major aftermarket suspension mods to kind of keep it fair.
I'm probably gonna drop the sway bar off the front tommorow and see what I can do. My thoughts are this....

Drop the Sway Bar
Put a set of 4 cylinder springs on the front
Move the battery to the hatch

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys. I know this car can be a lot quicker I just have to figure out how to keep it from spinning through 3 gears.

Removing the front sway bar along with 4cyl rear springs should help out with weight transfer. Moving the battery to the trunk would also make a difference. You could go to a set of good drag radials as well. With the 4.10 gearing, you're gonna need a tire than can clamp down, and the drag radials might just be the ticket.

I don't know if you would consider Mickey Thompson ET streets fair or not but they (along with switching from 2.73 to 3.73 gears) basically dropped my 60's from 2.25 to 1.91. Keep it in the garage if it's raining though.

Cooper Cobras are way greasy. Get some DRs and watch those times drop.

Yeah I was actually considering a set of BFG's, 275/50R15, the only problem is I mena he's turning it on street tires so I'd like to catch and beat him on street tires. I dropped the sway bar today, I don't know if it's actually gonna help any but I guess the weight being gone from it can't hurt. I guess I'll find out Tuesday night weather permitting.
Yeah I agree the Cooper Cobras SUCK. The only thing I can't figure out is a buddy of mine turned 13.60s on them with a basically stock GT, it was lightened, had a gear, and a set of pulleys and some other stuff. The battery is in the trunk, the smog pump and stuff gone and the 4 cylinder springs all the way around.
The thing is about this car, I know this is going to sound unbelivable but I"ve been in the car when he's done it. With half a tank of gas in it, it he can tach it up to 3000 and dump it and it just barely spins, like maybe 3 foot, and he's gone. I'm trying to figure out what he's got on it but I've looked under the car, no LCA's or anything I'm thinking either it's a freak or it's all in those 4 banger springs. I know that they'll help on the front but it looks like they'd hurt the back.

I definately got better traction losing the swaybar, and with 4.10 gear, i say get e.t. streets, who cares if its not a street radial, it's still d.o.t, and if he says thats cheating, then tell him he should buy some, and stop complaining, look at my light modded coupe did with 26x10.5 e.t streets, and with granny gears, i came off the line hard launching about 5k, they spun a hair then put my head back in the headrest, never new my car would sling out that hard, really, there is no radial that can touch the wrinkle wall 2 ply tire on the track, imo.

I have m/t sportsman pros now, and I can only manage a 2.0 60', track was'nt hooking for anyone though.

only way you have 4.11 grs is if you have a 9" rearend.

Sorry I guess they're 4.10s I'm just always used to saying 4.11s for Fords. Most of my buddies are running 26x10 inch slicks and DOT's on a set of 10 holes, 7 inch rims. I can come up with a pair of 10 holes pretty easilly I guess. How much abuse can a set of normal turbines take off the line on e a set of slicks and has anybody put slicks or cheaters on there 10 holes, if so what size.

problem with 10 holes is they arent as light as draglites, but people seem to run a 26x10.5 on a 7in rim with no problem on those, i just wouldnt recomend daily use, the 8in rim is better for that tire size, however, im about to put a 26x8.5 m/t slick on a 7in rim, just for track use, I hear the 26x10.5 is too much for a car with no heavy mods like mine, the 26x10.5 e.t. streets did rub my quad shocks, but not really that bad, it just rubbed a little paint off the shock then fixed itself, this using a 15x8 weld,

now my sportsman pros rub alot, and im thinking of losing the quads now. btw, my old e.t. streets were driven 100 mile round trip to work everyday for a while, like mentioned before, in the rain, try to keep your car parked, or just put on some radials.
basically i wanted to be one of those mustangs everyone sees launching at the track making that scratching sound, ahhhh, that was just me showing off, and abusing my clutch I like the sound they make on a sticky track though, the "i mean buissness sound" ....good luck
